After you have stopped denying yourself the possibility of change, the next step is to give up resisting letting go of your old life. The purpose of step one was to give you something else to believe in, that also gives you a reason to let go of disempowering beliefs. You can’t experience something new and hold on to old perceptions of yourself and the world. Sacred scripture reminds you that you can’t put new wine in old wineskins. Old wineskins can’t handle the potency (power) of new wine (new beliefs). I get you want a new life. You’ve got to get, that to experience this new life, you have to let go of the old life. I know. You want to know how.
Start with forgiving. What! Yep. Forgive. Who? Start with forgiving yourself. Forgive yourself for your mess-ups, for giving up, and for messing up all over again and again. After you have forgiven yourself, find someone you can forgive. What this means is that you are letting go of your own regrets, and you are letting go of the regrets others have caused you. When you let go, you create a clearing to start fresh and anew. Just like constructing a new building, you must first create a clearing for the construction to begin. You can’t start a new construction on an old, unprepared foundation. Today, start fresh by clearing the way with forgiveness.
